Portfolio manager will perform financial analysis of entities which, in providing services to or with Webster Bank, generate counterparty, treasury investment and or 3rd party supplier risk. Primary portfolio management responsibilities include the review of banks, insurance companies, including credit insurers, private mortgage insurers, life insurers and exchanges. Additional reviews could include, but are not limited to, bond insurers, mortgage correspondents,GSEs and companies which provide a variety of financial services to Webster. In addition, the incumbent will provide ongoing surveillance of exposures in the portfolio, through interim reviews and monitoring relevant news stories, rating changes and/or other industry developments, and communicate information to others within Webster. The incumbent will also work with colleagues in preparing quarterly reports detailing the risk profile and risk parameters of the portfolio. The successful candidate is required to have 3-7 years experience in a related field; a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree and/or CFA designation is strongly preferred and formal credit training program is desired); Job skills include: knowledge of accounting and finance including financial statement ratios and cash flow analysis; technical proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word; ability to learn new software (such as SNL) as required for position; good written and verbal communication/presentation skills; critical thinking skills and intellectual curiosity; superb analytical, organizational, communication, leadership and project management skils; ability to multi task and prioritize while working in a fast paced environment; ability to work with associates at various levels and influence senior business leaders within the organization; willingness to advance skills and improve financial knowledge through pursuit of additional educational opportunities outside the normal work environment.
Location for this role is flexible within Webster's footprint including NYC, Stamford, Boston, and Providence.
