Manager Application Development:

The Manager Application Development is a member of an Information Technology (IT) agile team and works on the product development process to ensure that Webster Bank’s needs are met. Works with scrum teams and business to determine and develop product features and provide on-going production support. The main duties and responsibilities include directing and participating in programming activities, monitoring, and evaluating system performance, and designing and implementing new capabilities and features.  Additional responsibilities include production support, troubleshooting and technical documentation.  Brings banking technology experience and multiple specific skill sets.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Programming well-designed, well-commented, testable, efficient code that follows specified design patterns and architecture.
  • Create and maintain design documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions.
  • Maintain software functionality.
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Apply security, privacy and compliance principles and guidelines.
  • Work with DevOps and other teams to build and deploy projects and deliverables to non-production and production environments.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and ad-hoc meetings including backlog grooming, sprint planning and retrospectives with the product owners, business owners, UI/UX designers, business analysts, QA testers and others.
  • Be immediately responsive to team members when issues, defects or inaccuracies are found within developer’s portfolio of responsibility.
  • Perform demonstrations and actively participate in code reviews periodically
  • Production and technical support of the application.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with LOB partners and technical personnel, patience, documentation, planning, troubleshooting, initiative within reasonable levels, ability to collaborate with others, ability to prioritize and juggle priorities to an extent. Ability to see detail as well as larger picture.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a directly related field.
  • 5+ years of Information Technology experience, at least 2 years of which were in development/support of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounting. 
  • Solid understanding of modern day web-oriented architecture, API services (REST), JSON & XML, relational data bases and SQL
  • Strong IT Background with understanding of servers, Operating systems, Databases, applications and change management.
  • Understanding of core banking solutions and processes
  • Strong background in n-tier, in-house and SaaS applications
  • Experience in application support and delivery.
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle, client area’s functions, and end-to-end delivery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative agile environment
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize effectively and independently
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner

The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000 USD to $125,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
