We are seeking a Managing Director, Marketing Data and Analytics Lead to join our growing Consumer Bank marketing organization. This role is critical in transforming data into actionable insights and programs that drive marketing performance, enhance client engagement, and contribute to Webster’s overall growth.

The role will be responsible for developing a marketing data and analytics strategy, determining the necessary infrastructure to accomplish that strategy, and executing it on an ongoing basis to deliver customer and business insights, competitive intelligence, and campaign performance improvements.

The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on leader and cross-functional collaborator who can partner with other Marketing Leads and manage both internal and external teams of data analysts, oversee external analytics partners, and interface with other analytics and data teams across the Bank.

This is an exciting opportunity to build and lead foundational capabilities that will enable scalable and effective marketing at a dynamic, client-focused regional bank.

Key Responsibilities:

Analytics Strategy Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing data and analytics strategy aligned with the bank’s business objectives and coordinated with other customer data management (data warehouse) and analytics functions throughout the Bank.

  • Develop and oversee measurement frameworks for digital marketing initiatives across owned, earned, and paid channels (e.g., websites, email, social media, display advertising).

  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, including digital metrics, to evaluate marketing effectiveness and customer engagement.

Addressable Marketing Campaign Management

  • Partner with Program and Channel Managers and marketing vendors to develop and manage addressable marketing campaigns, leveraging propensity models and other analytics to target products and offers to specific customers and prospects using addressable media such as direct mail, email and addressable digital media.

  • Design and oversee A/B testing and multivariate testing initiatives to drive continuous improvement of digital campaigns and user experiences.

  • Manage direct response and addressable marketing third-party vendors on a day-to-day basis, working with Program, Channel and Operation teams when necessary to evaluate and contract with new providers.

Campaign Performance Analysis

  • Partner with Program and Channel Managers and marketing vendors to analyze and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns across all channels (digital, traditional, and emerging).

  • Lead the implementation and optimization of digital analytics platforms such as Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, and other tracking technologies.

  • Build attribution models to assess and optimize the impact of digital channels on customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.

  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve campaign ROI, customer acquisition, cross-sell and retention efforts.

Customer Insights & Segmentation

  • Partner with Program and Channel Managers and marketing vendors to conduct advanced customer segmentation to create targeted audiences for marketing campaigns.

  • Leverage data to understand customer behaviors, preferences, and lifetime value (CLV).

Data Management and Integration

  • Direct the acquisition and integration of third-party customer and prospect data from a variety of external sources.

  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integration of first-party customer data across various systems within Webster (e.g., CRM, marketing automation tools, data warehouse).

  • Manage the design and maintenance of dashboards for real-time performance monitoring.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

  • Work closely with Product, Segment, Consumer Bank sales teams, other analytics teams and Marketing colleagues to align analytics with broader revenue and customer goals.

  • Partner with Program and Channel Managers, Media Agencies, and Digital Product teams to optimize media spend and website performance based on data insights.

  • Monitor data integrity and troubleshoot tracking and tagging issues across web, mobile, and media platforms.

  • Support the personalization of marketing materials by providing predictive insights and data integrations

  • Partner with Marketing Team to conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and support strategic planning.

Reporting and Presentations

  • Lead the development and production of performance reporting for Performance Marketing campaigns.

  • Partner with Market Research team to conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and support strategic planning.

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership, summarizing findings, trends, and actionable recommendations.

  • Clearly communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compliance and Data Privacy

  • Establish governance for use of customer data for marketing purposes

  • Ensure that all analytics activities comply with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, or regional-specific regulations).

  • Collaborate with data and compliance teams to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of customer data.

Technology and Tool Optimization

  • Evaluate and implement marketing analytics tools and platforms that enhance data analysis capabilities.

  • Stay current on emerging digital analytics tools, platforms, and best practices, and assess their relevance for the organization.

  • Stay updated on advancements in analytics technologies and methodologies.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of marketing analytics, customer insights, and direct response/addressable marketing campaign design, management and performance, with the ability to collaborate across departments and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in marketing, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing analytics, addressable and digital campaign management, data analysis, or a similar role, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • 5+ years of experience managing a data analytics team to produce measurable business results

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, SQL).

  • Experience with CRM platforms and marketing automation tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo).

  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on cross-functional teamwork.

Other Requirements:

  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to travel to one of the following locations as needed is preferred: Southington, CT, White Plains, NY, Jericho, NY, New York, NY.

The estimated salary range for this position is $170,000.00 to $180,000.00 USD annually. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
