Position Summary


In this position, you will work closely with the Financial Center Managing Directors and Business Banking Consultants to prepare comprehensive underwritings for the Business Banking Segment in accordance with bank standards, practices, and policies. In addition to new credit requests, you will be conducting annual reviews on existing credits in accordance with policy guidelines.  The senior underwriter will also actively assist in the on-going coaching and education needs of the Financial Center Business Managing Directors as necessary to develop a relationship.  Additionally, the Senior Underwriter effectively participates in the management of exposure strategies and portfolio risk to achieve team/regional goals and objectives. 



  • Takes a primary role in performing credit analysis, including assessment of management projection, business strategy, risk factors and financial modeling of stress scenarios.  Evaluates Credit Worthiness and ability to repay.  Evaluate the quality and acceptability of reports and appraisals that analyze collateral and environmental risk.
  • Prepare complete, comprehensive underwriting packages in a timely manner.  Ensure the content reflects a clear understanding of the proposed credit undertaking in the context of the Bank's Credit Policy and risk appetite.  Makes sound risk grading recommendations.
  • Perform periodic and annual credit assessments to manage risk; assign appropriate risk ratings in accordance with Bank defined risk characteristics and parameters; recommend changes as applicable at re-assessment; facilitate due diligence review including but not limited to: D&B and credit bureau reports
  • Working closely with Financial Center Managing Directors and Business Banking Consultants (business partners), add value to account relationships and support the achievement of profitability and credit quality goals through prompt and professional interactions.  Both the external and internal review processes are conducted in a timely manner.    
  • Enable the growth of the Business Banking portfolio while ensuring its health, balancing business growth and risk management, both in the underwriting process and through credit monitoring.  Escalate key issues to appropriate levels in order to resolve conflicts quickly and ensure acceptable credit quality.  Identify and confirm all regulatory requirements and ensures internal policies/procedures are followed. 
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.


  • For this position, you must have at least 5 years of experience in Credit or Risk Management.
  • Minimum 3 years Credit Risk Experience if preferred
  • Candidates with advanced degrees (Associates, Bachelor's, and/or Master's) preferred, yet a High School diploma or GED is required.  Candidates with some combination of coursework and experience, or else extensive related professional experience, are eligible for consideration
  • Knowledge of banking regulations, with related business line experience underwriting transactions inclusive of comprehensive collateral and cash flow analysis and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to plan, set priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
