At Webster Bank, our financial intermediation activities are organized broadly around three distinct lines of business: the Consumer Bank, the Commercial Bank, and HSA Bank. This position will be aligned with the Commercial Bank, reporting into the Platforms and Solutions team within the Commercial Administration organization.
As part of the Pricing and Profitability Team for the Commercial Bank and under the leadership of the Managing Director of Pricing and Profitability, the Director role will manage the commercial pricing platform PrecisionLender and assist in driving execution and delivery of pricing strategy across all Webster commercial lines of business. The role will also focus on the continued improvement and enhancement of the platform, from assumption management, user adoption, training, and driving value through insights and reporting.
This position is part of a holistic team focused on pricing and profitability within the Commercial Bank. Our mission is to build a sophisticated Commercial Bank pricing engine and strategically optimize the Commercial Bank balance sheet for future growth. This role will ensure the execution of the strategies and frameworks designed within the team and provide key metric reporting to drive accountability with senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Commercial Bank pricing platform, PrecisionLender. Manage vendor relationship to ensure latest upgrades and updates are implemented. Provide user support across commercial lines of business and manage internal assumption set to ensure alignment with shifting market dynamics and corporate objectives. Work with internal data partners and key stakeholders to ensure accuracy and integrity of all commercial bank data within the platform.
- Implement enhancements within the pricing solution, under the direction of leadership, to create a holistic view of client profitability and ensure communication to impacted users via various channels.
- Create end-to-end product road map, focused on capability enhancements with the platform, that will drive improved pricing performance, enhanced user experience, and dynamic KPI reporting.
- Continuously refine user resources, and drive consistency across all pricing guidance to ensure alignment with strategic direction. Make recommendations and implement change as needed.
Education, Skills & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. 5-7 years of pricing experience and pricing platform management. (Experience with PrecisionLender a plus)
- Experience at a large financial institution in Finance/Corporate Treasury, Commercial or Investment Banking, Strategy, or some combination thereof, preferably with exposure to risk based pricing or underwriting processes.
- Proficiency in theoretical and practical accounting and finance concepts and techniques (cash flow models, ROE, economic capital, funds transfer pricing, etc.), including the ability to perform the mathematical calculations, develop models, tools and methodologies which replicate financial mathematics of various financial instruments.
- Strong strategic and tactical critical thinking skills: ability to synthesize complex information to communicate effectively with teammates at all levels. Ability to translate ambiguous concepts into concrete analytical and reporting deliverables with broad applications.
- Ability to synthesize forward-looking trends and implications, creatively solve problems and approach situations with a fresh and well thought out perspective.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships, display organizational savvy, leverage networks, and value diversity; drive cross-functional team spread across the enterprise.
The estimated salary range for this position is $125,000 USD to $165,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
