Job Summary:
The incumbent will execute key initiatives under the direction of the Managing Director of Operational Risk Governance and Strategy. The individual will assist the team to achieve long-term strategic objectives that impact the organization. The individual will be able to gather, understand and interpret business strategies and risk management concepts, expectations, and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the oversight of the New Activity Program to ensure guidelines are adhered to that effectively identify and mitigate financial and non-financial risks.
- Assists in the preparation of accurate and appropriate reporting of operational risks to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Collaborates with colleagues in the lines of business, Risk Management teams, and other corporate functions around operational risk reporting, new products & services, training and other relevant topics that advance risk management capabilities
- Analyzes operational risk data to identify areas of excessive risk and to ensure that mitigation efforts are having the desired effect(s).
- Work closely with the Operational Risk Management team on ad-hoc projects and initiatives
- Ability to quickly come up to speed on multiple topics concurrently (e.g. committees, enterprise projects, risk reporting that are being enhanced/transformed) to be able to understand the team’s strategic objectives and to contribute effectively to their execution.
- Understands banking regulation, supervisory expectations and industry trends for large financial institutions, particularly as it relates to operational risk management
Education, Experience, Skillset
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience centered in risk management and/or audit in financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of operational risk, regulatory expectations, and bank best practices.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Certified Risk Professional (CRP) certification(s) preferred.
- Experience with Excel and PowerPoint
Work location can be offered as Central CT or Westchester County, NY; hybrid work arrangement
