Webster Bank is looking for someone to provide guidance and analysis in support of our compensation function. In this position, you will be conducting analyses of jobs, hourly wages, salaries, and incentives in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of the organization’s pay practices. You may also assist with preparing the annual salary expense budget and other accruals, administer the deferred compensation plan as well as handle other compensation related projects.



  • Consult with HR Business Partners and line managers to determine compensation related solutions; actively works to ensure compensation practices are understood and supported.
  • Review proposed pay adjustments for conformity to established guidelines, policies, and practices.
  • Audit job descriptions for content and update/prepare job descriptions to reflect rapidly changing lines of business.
  • Assists in administration of annual compensation review process, including short- and long-term incentive calculations.
  • Complete and submit salary surveys and prepares analysis of results to determine company’s competitive position.
  • Creates and maintains job codes and other relative compensation data.
  • Partners with HR Business Partner, Payroll, and Talent Acquisition team as needed.
  • Conducts studies, performs research and prepares reports as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.


  • For this position, you must have at least 3 years of experience as a compensation professional with knowledge of current compensation practices and trends including market analysis.
  • Experience in financial services/banking industry preferred.
  • Experience working with WorkDay strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with advanced degrees (Associates, Bachelor’s, and/or Master’s) preferred, yet a High School diploma or GED is required.  Candidates with some combination of coursework and experience, or else extensive related professional experience, are eligible for consideration.
  • CCP preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze data, draw conclusions and create presentable, understandable reports that will be used for executive decision-making.
  • Strong agility with numbers and highly detail-oriented
  • Ability to take direction but also assertively exercise independent thought and judgment.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented and lean environment.

The estimated salary range for this position is $95,800 to $107,500. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
