Business Unit Finance Officer (BFO) is responsible for being an objective and strategic financial partner to a line(s) of business leader. Includes, leading collaborative cross functional effort to drive relevant, flexible and efficient financial planning and analysis that supports our key business decisions. Coordinates the budgeting/forecasting process for the line of business, and provides financial reporting, financial analysis and accounting support to line of business management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial advisor to support the business line leader of businesses by providing financial and analytical counsel to facilitate decision-making around strategic business initiatives
- Develop annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long range strategic plans in partnership with managers including assumptions, validation, modeling and metrics
- Gather relevant information for management to make sound business decisions in support of business strategic direction
- Ensure budgets/forecasts are developed and input accurately in accordance to corporate and executive guidance/expectations (to include balance sheet, PPNR, revenue, expense and growth rates)
- Generate relevant monthly reporting to support the present business performance and provide relevant variance analysis for management
- Provide unbiased validation of financial justifications are in support of strategic initiatives, capital, and staffing investments (provide critical analysis and assumptions) appropriately justify the investment and is in-line with expected returns
- Stay current with industry changes and peer group trends; create fact based recommendations to line of business leader and corporate management to drive process improvements
- Understand the company's internal profitability methodologies and measurement and ensures they are current and relevant
- Assist with the education of business line management on the components of profitability measurement and economic profit (EP)
- Actively participate in the administration, review and approval of the variable compensation plans, if applicable
- Actively participate and contribute to the accurate production/review of corporate financial deliverables, to include, but not limited to, the month end accounting close, quarterly earnings call, 10Q/10K, annual report, proxy statement, investor presentations, goodwill, etc.
- Meet with and present financial information to line of business and executive management
- Provide functional advice or training to less experienced finance staff
- Perform customer and product profitability analysis. Identifies opportunities to drive revenue growth, margin expansion and a more favorable mix
- Continually identify and execute upon process improvement opportunities
- Support business line as a liaison to CFO organization to ensure financial controls are being adhered to (SOX, GL Recons, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements)
- May have supervisory oversight of one or more analysts; which would include mentoring, goal setting, performance planning, reviews and development planning
- Acts as a trusted liaison across all areas of the bank
Education/Experience/Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- Five or more years of experience in the Financial Sector
- Superior skills with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Strong communication, analytical and data organization/interpretation skills
- Prior exposure to financial budgeting, forecasting and reporting systems, required
- Attention to detail and accuracy is required
- Overall understanding of accounting principles & profitability
- Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure, resourceful and meet tight deadlines while maintaining flexibility

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 USD to $110,000 USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
