Sr. Closer -CLOSING DEPT. Supporting Business Credit Center {BCC}; Fast Track (Small Business) Lending, Limited Monitoring (LM) & Managed Portfolio (PM)

This position is responsible for managing the process flow for Business Credit Center Conventional and SBA Business loan closings in a very active portfolio. The expectation for the position is to help deliver an industry-leading customer experience for our borrowing customers, and to work directly with Bankers and attorneys to ensure a smooth closing process. This position will require significant attorney contact (written and phone) and will liaison with a team of Business Bankers to support new customer acquisition efforts throughout the entire Webster Bank footprint.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare assigned BCC loans, both conventional and SBA loans and, for closing in a timely fashion.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, Business Credit Center, Small Business, LM and PM units, Business Bankers, Banking Center (Retail) personnel, Loan Operations, vendors, and Attorneys.
  • Adhere to Bank policies, Standard Terms and Conditions of lending, and Bank's requirements for documentation, lien perfection and file set up.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the relationship and nuances between loan documents (i.e. how one document relates to and affects another) and be able to articulate required changes.
  • Support and deliver superior customer service to business relationships in conjunction with loan closings to bring consistent customer experiences throughout the Bank's footprint.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5-10 years of related experience -- Commercial loan closing experience with expertise in areas such as title work, trusts and/or specialty mortgages required.
  • Solid understanding of commercial loan documentation and ability to negotiate terms within the spirit of the credit approval document.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with attorneys when questions arise
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in attorney contact situations
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and proactively address the needs of their assigned portfolio.
