Webster Bank – Capital Markets
Position Summary
As an Associate in Webster Bank’s Capital Markets Group you will have significant involvement in all execution-related activities corresponding to syndicated middle market loan transactions. The role will support senior members of the capital markets team, with a focus on Commercial Real Estate (“CRE”) transactions, as well as exposure to Sponsor Finance, C&I, and ABL transactions. Potential candidates at this level are typically building upon the skills required to work independently and exhibit a high level of responsibility. You will be a meaningful contributor in a growing platform and assume increasing levels of responsibility.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities
- Collaborate and assist senior members of the capital markets team to evaluate and diligence prospective transaction opportunities
- Generate and maintain database of comparable loan transactions; providing market intelligence to internal and external constituents
- Production of marketing materials and engagement with syndicate lenders during the syndication process
- Actively involved in legal document negotiation
- Collaborate cross functionally with internal constituents to provide required diligence information for syndicated transactions
- Developing relationships and partnerships with like-minded lenders to help build syndicate network
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years’ experience at a commercial/ investment bank or direct lender with strong corporate credit, structuring and syndication experience
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency with financial statement modeling
- Experience underwriting middle market transactions
- Established/Developing relationships within the middle market lending arena
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet tight timelines, while operating with professionalism and integrity
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Bloomberg and CapitalIQ preferred
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related discipline. MBA considered a plus
- Capital Markets / Syndications direct experience preferred, but will consider individuals with tangential experience (assuming strong credit/underwriting skills)
- Experience with credit agreements / legal documentation of leveraged loans
