As a Business Data Analyst within the Commercial Bank Business Data Management team, you will play a crucial role in improving data quality and consistency. You will be responsible for gathering, validating and documenting metadata for Critical Data Elements, and ensuring their fitness for use across various environments. You will also be responsible for mapping data lineage across various systems to enable data accuracy.
Key responsibilities for the role:
- Identify and document business critical data elements for the Commercial Bank, working in partnership with various business stakeholders.
- Identify the data flow and usage from source to destination for critical data elements and map them for data lineage tracking, and to enable management of data for accuracy.
- Define new data quality rules, test the effectiveness of the rules, monitor and remediate data gaps, and continue to enhance data quality rule definitions.
- Create and maintain “golden” sources of data, collaborating with SMEs and understanding business processes and data usage.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Commercial Bank functional groups and enterprise Data Governance and Data Technology teams.
- Work closely with Data Governance team on the management of critical data elements used across the enterprise and leverage them for use in Commercial Banking. Prioritize implementation plans and participate in testing to make sure data quality rules are effective.
- Partner with project managers across Line of Business and Data Technology for prioritization and implementation of data remediation tasks.
- Analyze data quality issues, document findings, and apply business knowledge in resolving them. Build and maintain required documentation towards solution design and implementation.
- Partner with Business, Operations and Technology team for a quick turn-around on implementing data fixes, and provide effective business solutions contributing to best practices
- Produce managerial and status reporting of data quality issues.
Skills/experience qualifications for the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, finance, economics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a Commercial Bank environment, including loan origination and servicing, and familiarity with Commercial Banking products (loans, deposits, treasury management, etc.).
- Knowledge of credit risk and regulatory reporting.
- Prior experience working on defining data quality rules, data governance practices, and enabling data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL / Snowflake database management, and workflow or project visualization tools such as Visio or LucidCharts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience multitasking and managing multiple projects with quick turn-around.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Commercial platforms such as Salesforce FSC, Sageworks, and/or Hitachi Halo is a plus.
The estimated salary range for this position is $83,000.00 to $93,000.00 USD annually. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
