Job Summary:

The C&I Credit Analyst will primarily provide analytical support to the Senior Credit Executives within Webster’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) credit-risk organization. The role will be instrumental in gathering, organizing and formatting portfolio information to drive deeper understanding of asset quality and trends. As of 12/31/24, Webster’s C&I portfolio totaled $20Bn in loans outstanding across Asset Based Lending (ABL), Middle Market, Sponsor & Specialty, and Equipment Finance. The role will be a non-credit decisioning role that will work closely with the various Senior Credit Executives covering each of these lines of business. Overall, the role will provide significant exposure to a variety of different industries, business models, and lending products within Webster’s C&I portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the various Senior Credit Executives to create one-off and recurring reports specific to the C&I credit portfolios.

  • Serve as a key intermediary with centralized reporting resources to ensure that initiatives related to the portfolio remain on schedule and in accordance with C&I credit team requirements.

  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of data inconsistencies that occur during production of various credit monitoring processes (e.g., exception reporting).

  • Develop a strong understanding of Sageworks to assist in improved data capture, identification of anomalies, and overall reporting.

  • Serve as a backup and supplementary resource for credit committee note taking.

  • Assist in matters related to C&I credit policy.

  • General C&I project support.

Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or adjacent discipline.

  • 2-4 years of experience in finance / lending.

  • Working knowledge of cash flow and asset based lending concepts, including understanding of metrics that are critical to analyzing deal / portfolio asset quality (e.g., leverage, fixed charge coverage, margins, working capital ratios).

  • High degree of competency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.

  • Formal credit training at Webster or comparable lending institution preferred.

  • Familiarity with Webster commercial lending structure (i.e., Lines of Business) preferred.

  • Familiarity with Webster data visualization tools (e.g., Spectra) a plus.

The estimated salary range for this position is $75,000USD to $85,000USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
